1. Global Conflicts: Wars and conflict over resources (land, energy and water)
2. Natural hazards: The structure of the Earth and tectonic hazards, how they are caused; how humans try to limit the effects
3. World population: 7 billion and counting; which countries have the most and least people and why?
4. Weather and climate: Factors affecting our climate; forecasting; climate change.
5. Rivers: The River Severn; river landforms; flood management.
6. Globalisation and the global economy: Why has globalisation grown? The role of governments and TNCs and the positives and negatives of globalisation.

Year 9

Emerging economies

1. Brazil: A study of the physical and human geography of Brazil and why and how it has become an emerging economy.
2. Nigeria: A study of the physical and human geography of Nigeria and how it has become an emerging economy.
   Extreme Environments

Hot and Cold Deserts

1. The challenges and opportunities of hot deserts around the world, including the Thar Desert.
2. The location of cold deserts around the world and how they are threatened by climate change, with a focus on Svalbard.

Global Geographical issues

1. Hazardous Earth: The global circulation of the atmosphere, detailed study of tropical cyclones and a detailed study of tectonic activity
2. Development dynamics: Looking at the scale of global inequality and how it can be reduced, factors that hinder development and a detailed study of one emerging country.
