We are very proud of all that our students achieve and we celebrate their achievements every year with special ‘Awards Evenings’ for the different Key Stages.
But we also want to recognise and reward the achievements being made on a daily basis.
We have four main ways that students can earn rewards at Queensmead:
We give out stickers for excellence in the classroom, such as an outstanding piece of homework or an outstanding piece of classwork. We will also use a sticker to reward resilience from a student, as they demonstrate one of our values.
We send reward postcards home to students, to recognise their achievement, or they might phone or email home, sharing the success of a student with their parents.
We award positive points via Bromcom when we see students fulfilling our values and demonstrating excellent attitudes to their learning.
For example:
• They might challenge themselves to deepen their understanding.
• They might show resilience in the face of disappointment and still strive to achieve.
• They might show kindness towards peers by supporting them in their learning.
• They might demonstrate independence by trying to resolve problems for themselves.
• They might demonstrate respect, sensitivity and maturity towards the feelings of others and/or the subject matter.
Students will work towards awards through points – Bronze, Merit and Gold.
There are also times outside of lessons when a student might do something aligned with our values that deserves recognition which we might reward with a point:
• Performing a speech at an event
• Regularly attending a club – for 5 weeks or more
• Volunteering at school events
• An act of kindness
• Participating in sporting activities outside of school, such as competing for the borough
• Mentoring/tutoring younger students
• Evidence of independent research
