What is it like to work at Queensmead? Well, why don’t you meet some of our staff?
My role at Queensmead is evolving and exciting. I get to influence the curriculum we deliver as a department directly. We have state-of-the-art facilities for my subjects and the students really benefit from these. I have always found the staff warm and inviting, and I developed strong working relationships with many of them. Career Personal Development is a strong focus at the school and has allowed me to become an ECT mentor and progress from Key Stage 3 curriculum coordinator to Head of Department, all within a few years of joining the school.
I started at Queensmead in 2018 as an ECT in the Geography Department. You are encouraged to take ownership of your career development from the day you start. I have been offered lots of opportunities to experience a range of pastoral and curriculum roles since I joined. Queensmead has given me the support, guidance and knowledge to further my career and I am now Head of Year.
Relentlessly driven and focused, Mrs Bamber demonstrates unconditional commitment to her students success. Mrs Bamber is a purist linguistic teaching French and Spanish.
“At Queensmead we have high expectations for our students and staff. We strive to be the best and are always looking at continuous improvement to ensure the students get the very best start in life”
My name is Mr Grant and I am the Induction Tutor at Queensmead School. Since joining as an NQT I have progressed from Maths Teacher to Lead Teacher and then Induction Tutor. As part of my role as Lead Teacher and Induction Tutor I work with staff at the beginning of their teaching career and help them develop their teaching practice. This is a role I enjoy and I get to work with staff across the school.
I joined Queensmead School as an NQT in the English Department and have found that I have been offered many different opportunities for professional development during my time here. In my current role as a Lead Teacher I am responsible for contributing to the improvement of teaching and learning across the whole school. I was lucky enough to be supported by the school through my NPQLT (National Professional Qualification in Leading Teaching) as well as being able to attend a range of CPD sessions. I enjoy the challenge of working with colleagues across the school and supporting school improvement strategies.
