At Queensmead supporting local and global charities plays a significant role in school life, providing students the chance to demonstrate first hand the school’s values of kindness and respect.
Open to all year groups, the Charity Committee organises and runs a variety of charity events, such as bake sales and food drives, throughout the school year.
Students are provided with opportunities to actively support those in need and visit local charities, like the Hillingdon Food Bank. The students who take this opportunity witness the positive impact of charitable work in the community and gain direct insight into how volunteering benefits both the community and themselves.
In addition, each year, the Post-16 students select a specific charity to support, focusing their fundraising efforts towards making a meaningful contribution. The Post-16 students take the responsibility for planning and putting on a series of fundraising initiatives for their chosen charity. For the students who take a lead on organising these events they develop valuable life skills which they can take forward in their professional lives as well as inspiring lifelong civic engagement.
During the year the assemblies and awareness campaigns further reinforce the importance of volunteer work, helping students appreciate its role in building a fairer, more inclusive society. Through all these opportunities students are broadening their perspectives on social issues and develop a deeper sense of empathy.
