KS3 Curriculum

The Key Stage 3 curriculum covers Years 7 and 8. Upon entry, students are placed in mixed ability forms of approximately thirty children and are taught in these groups for some subjects.

Students in Years 7 and 8 pursue the National Curriculum studying the following subjects:

In Year 9 students are able to pick some subjects that they are interested in or new subjects they wish to try prior to making their  GCSE choices in Year 9 for the start of Year 10.

All students in Year 9 will study the following subjects:

In addition, students pick 2 subjects from the list below and study these for 2 hours a week in Year 9:

  • Textiles

Students will then pick 2 subjects from the list below.  Each subject is studies for 1 term, 1 hour a week:

  • Business
  • Psychology
  • Classics
  • Engineering
  • Economics
  • Child Development
  • Sociology
  • Health and Social Care

All Year 9 students will undertake an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification).  Students will be taught the EPQ for 1 hour a week for 1 term.
