On Thursday 23rd January a group of twelve Youth Travel Ambassadors visited Brunel University to attend a workshop and to pitch their walk to school and cycle campaign to a group of councillors from Hillingdon in a Dragons Den type of panel. There were six other schools at the workshop all hoping to win money for their various campaigns and projects. Queensmead got some great ideas from the other schools and vice versa.
Our Youth Travel Ambassadors requested £935. The Dragons were so impressed with their presentation and commitment to active travel they awarded them £1000 towards the campaign. With the money the Youth Travel Ambassadors will be purchasing three new bikes and hi-vis equipment e.g. reflectors, lights and helmets. Students will be able to take part in various projects and competitions to win these. New pedometers will also be bought for our annual pedometer challenge where students compete against teachers and each other.
The day was a great success, well done to all the students who came and took part.
